Our Programs
Backpack Medicine
Our volunteers team up together in a group of EMT/RN/NP or MD to support the Ventura County Healthcare Agency with in-field care in the Ventura, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley areas.
Large Scale Medical Shelter / First Aid Stations
From staffing the medical tents at Point Mugu Naval Base Airshow to providing first aid support to various charities and events throughout Ventura County, our volunteers train year-round to be prepared!
Community Outreach
Volunteers participate in:
-
Sidewalk "Hands Only" CPR

Sheltering
The MRC works side-by-side in year-round training with the Ventura County Emergency Medical Services Agency, Human Services Agency, Sheriff's Department, and other county entities to be prepared for winter-warming homeless shelters, cooling shelters, and other natural and man-made disasters that may require sheltering.
Points of Distribution
Throughout COVID-19, MRC assisted with mass Points of Distribution (PODs) including testing, vaccinations, and handing out take-home testing kits. We continue to train with inter-county agencies like Food Share (at their food distribution PODs) to be ready for any disaster.
Coming 2023: Blood Pressure Checks
Part of our growth in community outreach will soon include providing basic vitals including blood pressure checks in line with the AHA literature.
Coming 2023: Mental Health Response Unit
Part of team growth includes a special response unit to identify and fill gaps within the first responder community, and respond to mass emergencies.
Hospital Surge Staffing
Medical volunteers with a current scope of practice that can include EMT, Paramedic, RN, PA, NP, and MD are ready to deploy to our local hospitals if the need arises for emergency staffing. Throughout the Winter 2022/2023 COVID-19/RSV/influenza surge, MRC provided emergency staffing to Dignity Health St. John's Oxnard and Camarillo Emergency Departments.
Vaccinations
Our MRC volunteers are regularly trained and qualified to assist Ventura County Public Health with the following vaccinations:
-
TDap
-
Influenza
-
